Do EIW and EIL correlate with the student's chronological grade level?

Each level of EIW and EIL was developed to include instruction covering the skills one would typically expect a student to learn at that corresponding grade level. Due to our method of reteaching concepts learned at previous levels and our spiral approach to curriculum, along with modeling of all skills, most students are able to jump right into their EIW or EIL curriculum at grade level with success.

Do I have to prepare lessons with your course?

No. With Essentials in Writing, all of the lessons are prepared for you. Our experienced instructors teach each lesson, and then your student will complete assignments that correspond with the lessons. The only thing you need to do is pace your student so that they complete their writing curriculum in the time frame that matches your homeschool goals. We even offer 3 different options for pacing: 34-Week, 18-Week, and 10-Week Plans.

Can I tailor the curriculum to my needs?

Absolutely! We encourage families to move lessons around to fit their needs and to complete the program at the pace that works for them.

Do EIW and EIL align with the Common Core?

Although Essentials in Writing was not written with Common Core in mind, our curriculum does meet most Common Core Standards. EIW is happy to provide information regarding standards correlations for your state for the level you choose.
